SYNOPSIS: Buffy gets a surprise at a restaurant with her friends.

AUTHOR'S NOTES: I came up with this walking out of a restaurant, so forgive me if it's really bad!

"Hey Buffy! All of us are going down to the China Buffet restaurant for dinner." Willow said, interrupting Buffy from her book. "Want to come?"

"Sure, Will" Buffy answered. " I could use a break from the studies."

AFTER LUNCH

"Thank you" the waiter said, as she handed them the check and fortune cookies for the group.

"Ohhhh! Fortune cookies!" Xander yelled. " I love these! I always loved to know what some bald China man thought was going to happen to me!"

The gang laughed as they each grabbed a cookie. Buffy open the wrapper and gently removed the paper inside. She couldn't believe what it said.

'Your love life will be happy and harmonious'

Buffy laughed when she read it, but inside she wasn't happy. She knew she should be thinking of Riley and everything that happened with him, but she couldn't. She thought of Angel, and how much she missed him. She thought she did a good job hiding how much she still loved him.

"What's yours say Buff?" Xander asked.

"Um.. nothing. It's just some dumb cookie, right? I mean what does it matter anyway." Buffy quickly replied, as she slipped the paper into her pocket.

"Are you okay?" Willow asked her.

" Yeah, I'm fine." Buffy said. " I gotta go. I'll see you guys later."

She got up and quickly exited the restaurant, leaving a bewildered Xander and Willow behind.

'A happy love life, Yeah right' Buffy thought bitterly as she walked. She didn't even realize where she was going until she stood in front of the door of Angel's old apartment. She slowly opened the door and stepped inside. When she entered a wave of memories came flooding back to her.

"What are you doing here?" A voice asked from the corner of the apartment.

"Angel?" Buffy asked, a hopeful sound in her voice.

"It's me. What are you doing here?"

"I was just going to ask you the same thing." Buffy replied.

"I was just about to go and find you." Angel said.

"Why?" Buffy wondered aloud.

" Because, tomorrow is your birthday, and I just found out that my soul is permanent." He answered.

"What?" Buffy cried. "Are you sure?"

" Yeah, I'm sure." Angel said.

" Oh My God!" Buffy yelled and ran into his arms.

Angel smiled. lifted her into his arms, and gently carried her into the bedroom. As he held her, Buffy thought to herself, 'Your love life will be happy and harmonious. Thank you' She thought to whatever higher power had done this. 'Thank you so much.'
